The great Charter of Liberties is the letter signed in 1215 by English king John the 1-st. It was made in latin language and contains 63 clauses.
This document has been signed as a result of discontent of barons with strengthening of royal authority, a tax burden and unsuccessful foreign policy of king. The majority of clauses reflected and protected interests of aristocracy.
However other estates also received the significant rights. The great charter of liberties guaranteed observance by king of the certain obligations in relation to barons, forbade to kings to raise taxes without the consent of citizens.
