Balakovo is located in Saratov oblast. It was founded in 1762, has become a town in 1913. The population is 199.5 thousand people. The town is located on the left coast of Volga river and in the North-East of Saratov. There are a lot of places of interest in Balakovo. Fairways with sluices run through Balakovo and for this reason it is called “Venice of Volga”. Besides a good few buildings are kept in this town. They are Shmidt Trading House, Anisim and Pavel Malcevyhs’ premise, Ivan and Yakob Mamins’ mansions.
