Today some children have to share a room with their brother or sister while other children have their own room. I will conclude that it is better for each child to have his or her room after I compare the advantages of both opinions.
Firstly, the advantage of sharing a room is that children can learn how to put themselves in other people’s shoes. For example, we think a scene below that when a boy is studying in his room, his sister sings a song loud. The boy cannot naturally concentrate on studying because of his sister’s voice. They may begin to fight. In this case, his sister has to notice that she prevented him from studying. If she knows the fact once, she will be able to pay attention to put herself in her brother’s shoes next time. Of course, this is what the boy can learn too. That is, through sharing a room, we will be able to avoid being selfish.
On the other hand, the advantage of having one’s own room is that he or she can concentrate on doing what he or she likes. For example, there is a boy whose hobby is writing stories here. If he shares a room with other people, it is difficult for him to concentrate on creating stories because his brother or sister probably teases his hobby. But if he has his own room, he can try on writing his story without diverting his attention. That is, children’s own room plays a role as a secure place to do what they are especially interesting in and deepen their abilities.
In conclusion, I think that children should have their own room. Learning how to put themselves in other people’s shoes is important but children can probably learn this through studying together in a classroom too. At house, we ought to provide them their own room to concentrate on doing what they like and develop their abilities.
